The DUBBEL “T” amp
The Dubbel T amp uses both sides of a 12AX7 triode in parallel for each of the first two gain stages, then takes that output into a cathode follower from a third 12AX7 through a tone stack and then into a low Power 6P1P output tube.
This amp eventually found a home with a great guitar player named Keith Tracy who is best known as the Jazz/Funk Wizard.
It’s again a relatively simple circuit that lends itself to a superb sparkling clean tone. In Keith’s music world you’ll hear him roll off the high end to get that classic Jazz/Funk sound.
For those that want a look inside I’ve got a few more photos…
The use of a single circuit board allowed me to do a lot of the work with the board out on the bench which always makes things go easier. It also sets things up to use a pro shop to build the circuit board if an idea like this ever caught on for a production model amp. Single boards tend to give a simpler and quicker build process
